Master Franklyn Eugene a native of our twin island Trinidad and Tobago has been an outstanding martial artist for the past Twenty four years. He currently holds a first-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and a fourth degree black belt in Taekwondo. In 1988 master Eugene was introduced to Taekwondo in Florida USA where he trained and entered interschool tournaments and placed first place in breaking and weaponry.
From the period of 1991 to present he has been a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Taekwondo Association and represented his country at international games advancing into the quarter finals, semi finals and finals in national and Caribbean championships in Taekwondo sparing competitions. His local results in competition are quite outstanding capturing the national champion award for three consecutive years and medal best fighter at one event. His knowledge expanded into organizing competitions, refereeing matches and other traditional structure of Taekwondo.
Master Eugene has taught many students over the years in his travel to other countries and mostly here in Trinidad and Tobago. These people include Doctors, lawyers, high school teachers, apprentices, primary, secondary and university students, and engineers.
You would find him at all three branches St Augustine branch , Millennium Fitness Centre, Macoya, and The Long Circular Club- Long Circular Mall, St James, teaching students of all ages. Adult Self defense classes are specific to the Millennium Fitness Centre. Other traditional Taekwondo practices are incorporated into the martial training using his certification, experience and knowledge as a certified Fitness trainer and Specialist in Martial Arts conditioning obtained from international Sports & Science Association, ISSA.
He focuses strongly on the development of the individual applying the tenets of Taekwondo; Modesty, Integrity, Perseverance, self Control and Indomitable spirit. The master’s ultimate aim is to promote the sport of Taekwondo in Trinidad and Tobago to give the opportunity to many who have a chance to participate in the Olympics and other international recognised TKD games.
